Hays Hawkoween Classic

Our friends in Kyle hosted one of our favorite tournaments, the Halloween one day at Hays High School! Our students dressed in Halloween costumes to compete at this tournament!

Our novices Eléna Lucas and Lucie Flynn competed for the very first time!

Hays offered novice student congress, and our novices Rebecca Ballow and Zoe Taylor competed and advanced to finals! Zoe placed 3rd!!

We had a few public forum debate teams competing and three of our teams advanced (or broke!) to outrounds.

Paul Foreman and Isaiah Dietz were both in the top 3 speakers of the tournament!

The teams of Sam Martin and Orion Padden, and Isaiah Dietz and Paul Foreman advanced to quarterfinals, earning 2 state points!

Our senior team of Kaavya Yalamanchili and Ananya Arora advanced to finals and won 1st place!! They earned 8 of the 10 state points needed to qualify for the state tournament.

Domestic Extempers Colin McGowan and Henry Dieringer advanced to finals, with Colin placing 6th and Henry placing 4th!!

Our foreign extemper Maiya Olsen advanced to semifinals!

Five of our novice extemporaneous speakers advanced past prelims. Lucie Flynn, Lena Fadhel, Izzy Tenney, and Rebecca Ballow all made it to semifinals!! Zoe Taylor made it to finals and placed 2nd!!

In informative speaking, senior Bryn Oliver placed 6th and earned some state points!
