Anderson Speech & Debate Team 2011-2012 Schedule
Mr. Uhler determines which students will be allowed to participate at each tournament. Participation is also subject to parent approval, and is limited to students in good academic and citizenship standing. Schedule is subject to change.
July 30-August 7 – Anderson S & D Camp, Anderson Library. 10am to 2pm. 30 minute lunch break at Noon. (Students must provide their own lunch. This free camp is mandatory for students enrolled in competitive 2011-2012 Speech & Debate Classes (Debate III, Public Speaking III, Oral Interpretation III, After School Speech and Debate). Students enrolled in Debate I do not have to attend this free camp, though it could be extremely beneficial.)
August 27 – Anderson Blue & Gold Tournament, Anderson English Department. 8am-1pm. Students need to bring their own lunch. All competing students need to dress professionally.
September 2-3 – Hendrickson HS (Pflugerville) (TFA State Tournament Qualifier. Participation is strongly encouraged.) Local Tournament
September 9-10 – Grapevine HS (Dallas) (TFA State Tournament Qualifier and Tournament of Champions bid for Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Cross-Examination Debate, Public Forum Debate, and Congressional Debate. Travel expenses covered by student.)State Tournament

September 16-18 – Greenhill School (Dallas) (A TOC bid tournament for Lincoln-Douglas Debaters and Cross-Examination Debaters only. Limited to 2 or 3 entries. Travel expenses covered by student.) National Tournament
September 30-October 1 – Pflugerville HS (Pflugerville) (TFA State Tournament Qualifier. Participation is strongly encouraged.) Local Tournament
October 7-8 - Connally HS (Pflugerville) (TFA State Tournament Qualifier. Participation is strongly encouraged.) Local Tournament
October 14-16 – St. Mark’s School (Dallas) (TFA State Tournament Qualifier and TOC bid in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Cross-Examination Debate, Congressional Debate, and Extemporaneous Speaking. Entries per event are limited. Travel expenses covered by student.) National Tournament
October 21-22 – Anderson Tournament (Our host tournament. All students competing for the Anderson Speech and Debate Team and enrolled in the Debate I class must plan on attending this tournament. Students will run the tournament, watch rounds, and will have many responsibilities leading up to, during, and after the tournament. Attendance for all students is mandatory.)
November 11-12 – Hays HS (Buda) (TFA State Tournament Qualifier.) Local Tournament (those competing at Glenbrooks MUST compete at this tournament)
November 18-21 – Glenbrooks HS (Chicago, IL) (TOC bid tournament for Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Cross-Examination Debate, Congressional Debate, Public Forum Debate, and Extemporaneous Speaking. Travel expenses covered by student.) National Tournament
November 18-19 – Round Rock HS (TFA State Tournament Qualifier. Participation is strongly encouraged if not attending Glenbrooks Tournament.) Local Tournament
December 2-3 – UT Austin (TFA State Tournament Qualifier and TOC bid in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Cross-Examination Debate, Congressional Debate, and Extemporaneous Speaking. Entries per event are limited.) State Tournament
December 9-10 – Austin HS (TFA State Tournament Qualifier. Participation is strongly encouraged) Local Tournament
January 5-9 – MBA Lincoln-Douglas and Extemporaneous Speaking Invitational (Nashville, TN) (TOC bid tournament. Individual student participation is by invitation only.) National Tournament
January 6-7 – Stony Point HS (Round Rock) (TFA State Tournament Qualifier. Participation is strongly encouraged.) Local Tournament
January 13-14 – Churchill HS (San Antonio) (TFA State Tournament Qualifier and TOC bid in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Student Congress, and Extemporaneous Speaking. Entries per event are limited. Travel expenses covered by student.) State Tournament

February 10-11 - Capital City Extemporaneous Round Robin – (hosted by Anderson High School) This tournament is attended by the best extemporaneous speakers in Texas (including Anderson students).

February 17-20 – Harvard University (Boston, MA) (TOC bid tournament for Lincoln-Douglas, Student Congress, and Extemporaneous Speaking. Travel expenses covered by student.) National Tournament
March 1-3 – TFA State Tournament in Amarillo, Texas (All qualified students should attend. To qualify, students must accumulate at least 10 TFA State Points in one event. Travel expenses covered by student.) State Tournament
March 23 – UIL District Tournament, Westover Hills Church (Mr. Uhler will choose which students may participate. Only events available for participation: Prose Interp., Poetry Interp., LD Debate, CX Debate, Persuasive Speaking, and Informative Speaking. Only three entries per category.)
March 29-31 – NFL District Tournament, Location yet to be determined (Mr. Uhler will choose which students may participate. This tournament is the qualifying tournament for the NFL National Tournament in Dallas, TX. Individual entries are limited.) National Tournament
April 20-21 – UIL Regional Tournament, Baylor University (Waco) (For students who qualified at the UIL District tournament. Anderson HS will pay for all travel expenses for this tournament.)
May 4-7 (Date subject to change) – TOC for Lincoln Douglas Debate, Cross-Examination Debate, Public Forum Debate, and Congressional Debate (Lexington, KY) (To qualify, students must accumulate the necessary bids throughout the year. Travel expenses covered by student.) National Tournament
May 11-14 – TOC for Extemp Speaking (Chicago, IL) and NIETOC (Union City, CA) (To qualify, students must accumulate the necessary bids throughout the year. Travel expenses covered by student.) National Tournament
May 21-22 – UIL State Tournament, UT Austin (For students who qualified at the UIL Regional tournament. Anderson HS will pay all travel expenses for this tournament.)
June 11-17 – NFL National Tournament in Indianapolis, Indiana (For students who qualified at the NFL District tournament. Travel expenses covered by student.) National Tournament
